What problems do wildlife cause?

Most of the calls we get are because homeowners hear animals scurrying around inside the attic or walls. Most of the damage inside a houes or attic is unseen. Rodents like squirrels, mice, and rats often chew on electrical wires. Wildlife such as raccoons, bats, birds, opossums, and rats spread several diseases that humans can and do catch, such as Histoplasmosis, Salmonella, Leptospirosis and more. Many critters leave droppings and urine in an attic or cause mold or odor problems. We also handle animals outside the house. It could be a critter that has dug a large hole next to your house, or a raccoon in your garbage cans, an opossum that is stealing pet food, or a skunk living under your deck, causing an odor problem. Some animals destroy your garden or landscaping. Or perhaps you are simply scared of snakes. Whatever the problem is, our wildlife experts can remove the source of the problem, and prevent it from happening again. We are not a Huntsville extermination company, nor pest control. The Regular Interactions Between Humans And Skunks

The distinctive appearance and odor of the skunk is something that many people would prefer not to see near their homes, but there are plenty of Huntsville bird control people who look fondly upon the skunk, or the polecat as it is often known. There are a number of media references to skunks, with the cartoon Pepe Le Pew being the best known. The distinctive scent is said to be detectable by the human nose from a distance of up to a mile.

The Dangers Skunks Can Pose To Humans
Skunks are known to be one of the major carriers of the rabies virus, but because this is usually transmitted by bite there are very few instances of humans being infected with rabies because of a bite from a skunk. Unlike dogs that have been infected with the virus the do not become excessively aggressive, but will look to avoid contact with humans if at all possible. The majority of situations in which a skunk can try to bite is if they are confronted by a Huntsville rodent extermination with no escape route visible, such as when they are caught in a live trap.

The other Huntsville bat removal aspect of skunk behavior that is worth bearing in mind is their notorious scent spray. Adult skunks will have more control of the aim of the scent, and this is projected from the anal glands. This can be accurately projected for up to three meters, and is one of the main reasons that there are very few predators that will choose to prey on skunks. Because of the strength of the scent it has been known to affect asthmatics and those who are sensitive to smells badly, but can generally be washed out with few ill effects beyond the lingering scent.

Skunks That Are Kept As Pets
Probably the first thing that will happen to any skunk that is to be kept as pet is that the scent glands will need to be removed, otherwise their ability to spray scent will be particularly prohibitive to their practicality as a pet. It is also worth bearing in mind that skunks are naturally nocturnal, and this means that their sleeping patterns will usually be in conflict with those Huntsville raccoon removal people. Because skunks are wild animals there are various regulations and permits that can be involved with keeping a skunk as a pet, and it is only legal to keep a skunk as a pet in 19 states.

Most people who choose to keep a skunk as a pet will do so keeping them in an outdoor cage, and making sure to give them enough space to move around. There are some people who do choose to keep the skunk as an indoor pet, but it can be quite a lot of work to house train such an animal. The skunk personality is one that can adapt to being a pet quite well, as they can be quite cute and playful, but it is best to domesticate them from a very early age rather than catching one and then trying to train it.

The diet that is fed to a skunk is very important, and although they are omnivorous in the wild they can survive on a vegetarian diet. Many Huntsville snake removal people will think that because they are attracted to cat food in the wild then this will be a suitable food, but skunks really do need a diet that includes plenty of vegetable matter and other plants.

Skunks In Urban Areas
One of the main areas in which skunks and humans are likely to come into conflict is if they move into urban areas, and Huntsville rat control in urban areas will often be the main way in which people can find a skunk to keep as a pet.
